The switch has frame forwarding hardware offload capabilities that are divided into ingress, queuing, and egress logical functional blocks. The following will outline what these blocks are and what they basically are doing. For each block, there will be a functional description of how and with which commands it can be configured.

The ingress forwarding path is described in the following as a sequence of blocks a frame will pass through.

The queue system contains eight egress queues per port - one per priority. The selection of the priority queue is done based on the 'Queue ID' that is classified in the ingress path.
